“Doesn’t Dave Belton have to leave his Morgan County BOE seat when he qualifies for a Georgia legislative seat? Has he done that?”

——

“Dear Newton Chamber, your next job postings need to be for trash picker-uppers, not trolley car drivers. This town is trashed and you want a trolley? Outrageous!”

——

“I wonder how our school board gets anything done. We sat and listened as they spent 30 minutes in what they claim is ‘open session’ talking about the Newton Citizen Poll. One man even said he had copies of polls that changed over time. This is government at its worst. Open session means they crack the door open to the conference room. We all heard it … !”

——

“As a member of the (Executive Leadership Team) I am ashamed of the elected school board’s backroom goings-ons. Meddling in things that are none ya!”

——

“You know I came to NCSS and have been an administrator who has cared deeply and worked hard to clean things up, but to hear a board member who has no clue what we do and who will be on the board almost three more years to say administrators are ‘lousy’ just burns me up. No respect left.”

——-

“Seems the disenchantment with our public schools is quite clear when no one runs for the board to oppose anyone. I have to laugh.”

——

“Maybe Hunter Hall can drive the trolley by Newton High where two of the past three principals (Sams and David) mysteriously left mid-year and where we have no idea what the real grad rates are, and take them by the old depot eatery where Atlanta reported a health score of F.”

Editor’s note: The restaurant alluded to in this comment has since improved its health score.

“Interesting to hear about the infighting in the BOC. Did that finance director ever get her bachelor’s from Ga. State? Is she accredited yet?”
