COVINGTON — Motorists can once again expect some delays on Interstate 20 between mile markers 92 and 95, but this time traveling eastbound.
The Georgia Department of Transportation will close one lane for right shoulder milling and asphalt work starting at noon Sunday through 8 a.m. Thursday, March 20, depending on weather.
A flagman may be used for this work and motorists are asked to use caution, reduce their speed and be alert to changing traffic conditions in work zones.
GDOT communication manager Cissy McNure reminds travelers that bridge and road construction workers will be in close proximity to the travel lane so it’s important drivers be alert while moving through this project.
Massana Construction Inc. was awarded the $6.7 million federal project consisting of bridge rehabilitation on I-20, and Ga. Route 402 over the Alcovy River. The project began construction in August and should be completed by June 30.
Westbound motorists were subject to delays in the same area due to the project last week.
