Covington woman dies in wreck involving teen driver

COVINGTON — A Covington woman was killed Tuesday when the car she was driving was struck by a teenage driver who crossed into her lane of travel. The wreck resulted in numerous people being transported to area hospitals for treatment of their injuries.

According to the Georgia State Patrol, sometime around 5:10 p.m., a white 2007 Ford pickup truck driven by a 16-year-old female was traveling east on Bypass Road near Puckett Street when it struck a 1998 Chevrolet Cavalier in the rear, crossed the center line and struck a 1999 Chevrolet Cavalier head-on.

Tiffany Danielle Warren, 21, the driver of the 1999 Chevrolet Cavalier, died at the scene. Her 19-year-old passenger, who was also from Covington, was injured and transported by ambulance to Grady Memorial Hospital, the GSP reported.

The teenage driver of the Ford truck was transported to Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta for her injuries, along with a 14-year-old passenger.

Another passenger in the Ford, a 40-year-old Covington man, was taken to Grady Memorial Hospital.

The driver of the 1998 Chevrolet that was struck in the rear, a 44-year-old woman from Covington, was injured and also taken to Grady Hospital, the GSP reported.

“Charges are pending the completion of a GSP Specialized Collision Reconstruction Team investigation,” said Tracey Watson in the Department of Public Safety’s public information office.
