Kafuba Donzon polished off a fine senior season on the mats recently.
The former state placer at Rockdale, currently at Indiana Tech (Fort Wayne, Indiana), placed third in the 165-pound weight class at the NAIA Championships in Topeka, Kansas, qualifying for All-American status.
Donzon lost in the quarterfinals, but bounced back with four minor decision victories in wrestle backs, including a 5-2 win over Trever Devestern of Dakota Wesleyan in the third-place match.
Donzon had a nearly-identical run in his last high school tournament in February, 2009. In the 152-pound weight class in Class AAAA, Donzon lost in the quarterfinals, then won four consecutive minor decisions to place third and finish his senior season at the Conyers school with 54 victories.
The Covington native, who is in his second year with Indiana Tech after transferring from Darton College in Albany, finished the year with a 40-8 record.
