COVINGTON — Motorists traveling westbound on Interstate 20 between mile markers 92 and 95 could experience some delays over the next few days.
The Georgia Department of Transportation will close one lane for right shoulder milling and asphalt work starting at noon Sunday through 8 a.m. Thursday, March 13, depending on weather.
A flagman may be used for this work and motorists are asked to use caution, reduce their speed and be alert to changing traffic conditions in work zones.
“Motorists should be cautious of heavy equipment that will be entering and exiting the roadway at this location,” said Cissy McNure, GDOT communication manager. “Bridge and road construction workers will be in close proximity to the travel lane so it’s important drivers be alert while moving through this project.”
Massana Construction Inc. was awarded the $6.7 million federal project consisting of bridge rehabilitation on I-20, and Ga. Route 402 over the Alcovy River. The project began construction in August and should be completed by June 30.
