CONYERS — The Rockdale County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Interdiction Unit arrested a Covington woman on I-20 near the Newton County line Monday when it was discovered she was driving a stolen vehicle.

Sometime around 5:30 p.m. deputies stopped the 2014 Dodge Avenger for following another car too closely.

“When the deputy ran the vehicle’s tag, it returned stolen out of Atlanta from February,” said Cpl. Michael Camp.

The driver was identified as 33-year-old Tiffany Rochelle McCloud of 350 Crestfield Circle. She faces charges of theft by receiving stolen property, driving without a valid license, following too closely and giving false name to law enforcement officers.

In other news, the Rockdale County Sheriff’s Office has made two recent arrests involving suspects accused of trafficking drugs.

Just after 5 p.m. Monday, the RCSO Criminal Interdiction Unit pulled over a 1999 Mercury Mountaineer that was traveling eastbound on Interstate 20 near the Salem Road exit for not having functional brake lights.

During the traffic stop, the deputy smelled marijuana and located a small bag of marijuana, the RCSO reported.

In addition to the marijuana, the deputy recovered about 7 grams of crack cocaine, digital scales, a Glock handgun and several thousand dollars in cash.

The driver of the SUV, Allen Tremayne Turner, 39 of 461 Old Dixie Highway in Forest Park, is facing multiple drugs and traffic charges, as well as weapons charges due to him being a convicted felon, said Cpl. Michael Camp.

Late last week, the RCSO Narcotics and Vice unit wrapped up a six-months long-investigation into alleged drug activity at a home on Old Irwin Bridge Road.

Camp said the Sheriff’s Office had received multiple complaints of suspected drug activity at the home, which was described by some as a hang-out spot.

Investigators obtained a search warrant on June 18 and, along with the RCSO SWAT Team, executed the search warrant on the home at 2450 Old Irwin Bridge Road early in the morning on June 19.

“They recovered a little over 1 ounce of methamphetamine, a small amount of marijuana and a small amount of prescription pills of the drug Lyrica, which is pregabalin, a Schedule V narcotic,” Camp said.

Investigators also found a small amount of cash, plastic bags and scales.

Mack David Ivey III, 49, has been charged with possession of methamphetamine with intent to distribute, trafficking in methamphetamine, possession of marijuana less than 1 ounce and possession of Schedule V prescription pills.

He was transported to the Rockdale County Jail on a $10,000 bond.
