GPC receives reaccreditation

COVINGTON — Georgia Perimeter College Newton Campus, along with all of GPC’s campuses, were approved for reaccreditation on June 19 by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Board of Trustees.

A press release from GPC states that the board voted to reaffirm GPC’s accreditation for the next 10 years, as well as to lift the financial warning that the school was issued in December 2012. This recognizes that GPC is now in compliance with all SACS financial standards.

“This is the last item of business related to the college’s fiscal year 2012 financial crisis,” said Rob Watts, interim president for GPC. “The college is closing this chapter in its history. We are now focused on the college’s 50th entering class, which will arrive in 60 days. This is a very good day for the college.”

With five campus locations throughout the metro area, GPC serves more 21,000 students and is the largest state college in the University System of Georgia.
