“Porterdale City Council: where and how are applications for the chief of police positions being accepted? The citizens of Porterdale deserve to have a police chief who is for the people. The best qualified candidate whose only agenda is to serve and protect. We deserve a department headed by a well-educated, motivated, knowledgeable individual who has strong capabilities and is able to serve and lead in all aspects of law enforcement.”

“Keep east Newton green and open. Maybe it’s time for a new county by splitting Newton along the Alcovy River? East and West Newton have virtually nothing in common. The people of the east side of the county could do better on our own in almost every area of maintaining a strong quality of life. Time to think about it.”

“’And for the international order that we have worked for generations to build, ordinary men and women are too small-minded to govern their own affairs. The order and progress can only come when individuals surrender their rights to an all powerful sovereign.’ This quote did not come from a third world country. This is a word for word quote from Obama speaking in Germany. If you don’t believe it, go to this YouTube video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YfRtbIQ1kTw&feature=youtu.be. I am calling on all ‘small-minded men and women’ who have the ability to govern our own affairs. We have to get Obama and all who support him (Democrats) out of office. This quote shows that Obama is not interested in our Constitution or laws and has greatly violated his oath of office. He is only interested in ruling the world. This should be an impeachable offense! Every one one of us should spread this quote around the country because you will never hear it from Obama’s ‘main stream press.’”

“After having to get nasty with the lady at GPC in advising I have to wonder if this is the right place for any of my kids. State colleges seem not to give a dang lately.”

——

“I am so frustrated. Newton Medical wants our money. The failing school system wants the highest millage possible. 2050 planners want to limit freedoms. When will it stop in Newton County? When is enough enough? I want to leave this hellhole. We get nothing for this constant money and land grab by people who need to get real jobs.”

——

“All I can say is that I think Hunter Hall may go down on this 2050 mess. At least we can hope. It will be good riddance.”

“Mansfield 2050 Plan meeting. Time and again during the meeting, when a question was asked of the presenters which offered some degree of difficulty, the presenters would make a joke out of it or offer some facetious answer. Totally unacceptable. Had I been a commissioner at the meeting I would have interrupted and stated, ‘Those type answers are not acceptable. Answer the question!’ Here is just one example: Question, ‘Why can’t we put this to a vote by the people, a referendum? Answer, ‘Well, I guess you could if you wanted to put a 200-page document on the ballot. I doubt that would be fair.’ Do you see any humor in the question? Do you see how utterly ridiculous the answer was? You never put an entire description of any issue on the ballot, only a summary with a ‘Yes’ or ‘No’ answer. Wait a minute, if Donald Trump had been there and paying those people to respond properly to citizen questions, he would undoubtedly have said, ‘You’re fired!’”

“So I demand to see the registrar at GPC over on Highway 11. And they can’t find her and then I learn when she should have helped my daughter she was in some other building during work hours working on a college degree. Is this what state workers do when they should be working with my child?”

——

“OK, here I sit in this GPC orientation and this (administrator) is overheard whining he don’t even wanna be here nor greet us. Not feelin’ loved at GPC.”

“The paper on Friday stated that the hospital’s top officials were asking to receive an additional .3 mills from the county for emergency room care. This would equate to an additional $600,000 in funding on top of what the hospital currently receives. I have one question for Mr. Brooks and Mr. Weadick: What are your plans for the lack of ambulance coverage for the county? The hospital currently provides 4.5 ambulances covering the county, which now has rough estimates of just over 100,000 residents, with a call volume of 12,000-13,000 calls. Two years ago the EMS department, which operates in the black, was asked to eliminate an ambulance in the Oak Hill area. Today this ambulance operates 12 hours during the day and then there is no immediate ambulance coverage after 9 p.m. Just recently the EMS department, still operating in the black, was asked to cut yet another $35,000 from the budget. The ambulance coverage for the county is bleak at best. The response times to certain areas are 20 minutes or longer due to there are simply not enough ambulances covering the county. There are several times a day where there is no ambulance available, and Rockdale, Walton, Henry, Butts, and Jasper are called to run these for the county. And then there is the safety variable to this equation, too. There are times due to lack of ambulances the current ambulance crews are awake 24 hours at a time because of the growing call volume and their having to run more. Crews operating 24 hours at a time is very dangerous, not only for the crews but for the citizens out driving the roads. And don’t forget that when crews are fatigued mistakes can happen. My point is, every investor seeks a return for their investment. Here the investor is the constituents of the county and the county. Being asked of them is an additional investment of $600,000 for emergency room care. Now what is their return? Nothing at all, they will not receive a return. You are asking taxpaying citizens to pay more but, in return, you still get the same ambulance coverage, the same long response times because of the lack of ambulances. Is this not what Bernie Madoff did when he took the invested money and did not provide a return? Sincerely, Concerned Citizen.”

“Thanks to our 1st District county commissioner John Douglas on two items. I appreciate that he once again voted against raising our property taxes. Where does it all end with this county commission and their yearly property tax hikes? Why do they think they have first rights to the money we earned before we have a chance to use it as we would for our families? Second, I have had big concerns about the 2050 Plan and the very large, 20-acre lot sizes it would mandate. He says in the newspaper that there will be no such requirements in east Newton and for us to move on to discuss other parts of the 2050 Plan. We do want to keep the open spaces and quiet-type of living we have here, but 20 acres would be excessive. I appreciate that he has recognized that fact and been the first commissioner to step up and tell the urban planners from Maryland to make changes.”

“I’m going to get something off my chest about Darrell Huckaby. He says, ‘I think he was born in Kenya, too.’ He is, of course, referring to the president. It’s amazing and terrifying that this (Huckaby) is what passes for an educated man, in Georgia.”

——

“The City Council voted to take over maintenance of the I-20 exit ramps so we could put up a good appearance for those entering our city. So when is our city manager-in-training going to groom the I-20 eastbound exit 90 ramp? Looks like a roadway in the Bronx! We have a hard time getting the seemingly easy things right sometimes.”

——

“Obama wants to rule like a dictator, he’s the executive orders president! False! In his 4-plus years, President Obama has issued 168 executive orders, and is on pace to issue 288 by the end of his second term. By comparison, George W. Bush issued 291 executive orders while in office and Ronald Reagan signed 381 during his eight years in the White House. President Obama is on pace to issue fewer executive orders than either George W. Bush or Ronald Reagan. Maybe it’s just wrong because Obama did it.”

“Let’s all do the 2050 Goose step march.”

——

“Congratulations to those who won their runoff elections this past Tuesday and have little or no opposition in November. Now represent us well. We will be watching to make sure you don’t say one thing here and something else in the office you were elected to. If you do try to pull off that act, your time in office will be short.”

——

“Why doesn’t Hunter Hall debate Mr. Phil Johnson over the 2050 Plan? Thirty minutes each; let the Citizen reporter moderate.”

——

“2050 Plan = Crime”

——

“2050 Plan = over development on Salem Road”

——

“2050 plan = higher Taxes in the western part of Newton”

“Message to candidates in the recent election runoff: Signs don’t vote. You can carpet the countryside with your signs and not earn a single vote. It might make you feel good to drive down the road and see your name everywhere, but it is a false sense of security and typically a mistake rookie candidates make. Those who are going to vote are listening to your words and watching your actions and they will base their votes on the issues and how you address them, not your signs. Congratulations to those who won, best wishes to those who did not. Now on to November and let’s elect the best candidates we have to represent our area and Georgia.”

“I can’t believe Sonya Hunte didn’t campaign a little harder. She had a chance to defeat a mumbling, up-to-no-good commissioner and make a real difference. With the twerking party at Nelson Heights that led to guns being fired, you’d think she’d use that to her advantage against Henderson. It’s a shame that people will continue to hear nothing but jibberish every time Henderson talks at the BOC meetings, instead of someone who actually knows what they’re talking about.”
