Man accused of stabbing brother turns himself in

CONYERS — The 48-year-old man accused of stabbing his brother has turned himself in to authorities. According to Rockdale County Sheriff’s Office Sgt. Andrew Arnold, Mark Anthony Joyner came to the Sheriff’s Office Sunday where he was arrested and charged with aggravated assault.

The stabbing resulted after an an alleged argument between brothers that began just before noon Wednesday, July 9. According to the incident report, Joyner stabbed his 46-year-old brother, who lives at the same address on Brandy Woods Drive, after the younger sibling threatened to “kill everyone in this house.”

The victim reportedly made the threat after his mother, who also lives at the same address, asked him to finish repairing the brakes on her vehicle.

The suspect, who was in the kitchen of the home, allegedly picked up a knife and started chasing the younger brother. According to the mother, the brothers ran out to the garage where they fought and then came back into the house.

Once back inside the house, the victim reportedly yelled that he had been stabbed twice in the side.

When deputies arrived, Joyner had already left the scene and they found the victim standing in the dining room holding a towel to his side. A puddle of blood was in the front doorway area with multiple blood trails leading from it. A knife was nearby.

The victim was treated at the scene by National EMS and transported by ambulance to an Atlanta area hospital.
