COVINGTON — One of three suspects in the July 3 murder of a Newton County man has been arrested in Orlando.

A lookout was issued for 23-year-old Abdul Davon Williams, AKA Lil Dreads, Thursday morning by the Newton County Sheriff’s Office. He was arrested later in the day without incident by the U.S. Marshals Service.

Williams was identified as one of three suspects in the shooting of a 35-year-old man in the Gum Tree neighborhood off Kirkland Road. The other two suspects remain unidentified by the NCSO. One suspect is described as a black male, weighing 160 to 180 pounds, approximately 35 to 40 years of age, and with long dreadlocks. The third suspect is a Hispanic man; weighing 155 to 165 pounds; approximately 30 to 35 years of age; with long dark straight hair.

The three are sought in connection with the shooting of Adrian Ricardo Brooks.

According to the NCSO, Brooks was shot in the abdomen around 8 p.m. on July 3. The victim’s girlfriend called 911 to report the shooting and three suspects were seen fleeing in a vehicle similar to a white, four-door Toyota Camry or white Volkswagen Jetta soon after the shooting. Brooks was taken to an area hospital where he was later pronounced dead.

No motive in the shooting has been established.
