NCSO seeks 3 in connection with July 4 weekend fatal shooting

COVINGTON — A 35-year-old Newton County man was shot and killed on July 4 and authorities are looking for three people believed to be involved in the shooting. According to the Newton County Sheriff’s Office, Adrian Ricardo Brooks was shot in the abdomen around 8 p.m. Friday in the Gum Tree neighborhood off Kirkland Road. Sgt. Michael Cunningham said the victim’s girlfriend called 911 to report the shooting and three unknown men were seen fleeing in a vehicle similar to a white Toyota Camry soon after the shooting. Brooks was taken to an area hospital where he was later pronounce dead. The

Newton County Coroner’s Office along with the GBI will performing an autopsy at which time the cause and manner of death may be released.
