Sponsors sought for benefit tennis tournament

CONYERS — Sponsorships are available for the annual Kim Atkins Memorial Tennis Tournament, set for Aug. 22-24 at Summit Chase Country Club in Snellville.

The tournament is held to raise money for the Kimberley Chance Atkins Foundation, an organization that works to promote early detection of breast cancer. The foundation is named in honor of the Rockdale County wife, mother, teacher, daughter, niece and friend who died of breast cancer at the age of 32. Money raised through the foundation is used to partner with the Rockdale County Health Department, Rockdale Medical Center, Newton County Health Department and Newton Medical Center to provide mammograms for women who qualify for services. Since these partnerships were formed, more than 400 mammograms have been completed through foundation funding.

Sponsorships are available at five levels — Platinum, $5,000; Gold, $2,500; Silver, $1,000; Bronze, $500; and Breast Buddy, $100 to $499. The deadline for sponsorship registration is Aug. 10.

The annual tournament has twice been named the U.S. Tennis Association charity event of the year.

For more information about sponsorships or how to sign up to play in the tournament, go to wwwkimatkins.net or call Brenda Edwards at 770-364-3575. Each pre-registered player age 21 or older will receive one ticket to the Breast Party in Town, a catered event at Club 908 in Olde Town Conyers on Aug. 16. Nonplayers may attend the party for $25 per person.
