That’s right — she’s looking at you with those big puppy dog eyes, eager to find her new home. Toby is a 3-month-old Boxer mix who, along with her three sisters, are living at the Newton County Animal Shelter. Toby has already had her first round of vaccinations and has been dewormed. Boxers are known for their desire for human affection, especially from children. They are patient and spirited with children, but also protective, making them a popular choice for families, the American Kennel Club states. Toby should not require a lot of grooming, but will need daily exercise. To learn more about Toby, her sisters or any of the pets ready for adoption, visit the Newton County Animal Shelter, located at 210 Lower River Road in Covington. The shelter usually has between 20 to 30 dogs and an equal amount of cats eligible for adoption. The adoption fee for a dog or puppy is $25 and $10 for a cat or kitten. Spaying/neutering is mandatory for all animals. The shelter is open from 11 a.m. To 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday and from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. On Saturdays. The phone number is 770-786-9514. Anyone who has lost a pet is urged to go to the center and bring a photo of the missing animal.
