COVINGTON — A woman riding a four-wheeler in the Woods of Deering subdivision was injured Wednesday when she apparently lost control and crashed into a parked pickup truck.

The Newton County Sheriff’s Office has confirmed that a 34-year-old woman was injured in the four-wheeler accident but could provide no further details since no criminal activity is suspected.

Frank Farmer, a resident of the neighborhood, said he saw two people — a male and a female — riding four-wheelers in the neighborhood Wednesday afternoon. He said he saw them turn around at his driveway but didn’t know anything further until he saw a firetruck responding a few minutes later.

Farmer said when he checked he saw that one of the four-wheelers had struck a pickup truck parked in a neighbor’s driveway. He said the impact caused the truck to shift over about 5 feet.

The victim was airlifted to an Atlanta area hospital. Her condition was not immediately available.
