Charlie is everything a puppy should be. He’s sweet and playful, especially after he gets to know you. Charlie is about 5 months old and is a Shepherd/Husky mix who will grow to be about 50 pounds. He can be a little shy, but Charlie will soon warm up and he just wants to play and be loved. Charlie can be rescued and adopted at Rockdale County Animal Care and Control Shelter at 1506 Rockbridge Road in Conyers. At the Rockdale shelter adoption fees for dogs are $30 and $20 for cats. Spaying or neutering is required for adoption. The shelter is open from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., Monday through Friday. The phone number is 770-278-8403. (Special photo)

Questions to ask before adopting a pet:

• Can I make a long-term commitment to this pet?

• Will I be able to spend enough time with a new pet?

• Am I prepared for the cost a new pet will bring?

• Which pet is right for my home and my family?
