Eastside shuts down Chestatee

GAINESVILLE — Anthony Henderson was involved in all of Eastside’s 15-first quarter points as he helped give the Eagles an all-important Region 8-AAAA win beating Chestatee 55-38 on Friday.

Henderson was unstoppable scoring all of Eastside’s (14-2, 3-0) points in the first quarter as the Eagles jumped out to a 15-8 lead.

The Eagles took a 13-point, 31-18, lead over Chestatee (4-13, 0-4) at the half with the help of three, 3-pointers by Larry Saxton as Eastside never looked back.

Chestatee mounted a slight comeback in the third frame getting a point back, but Eastside’s defense proved to be too much for the War Eagles to handle.

Justin Adams dropped seven points in the third quarter as Henderson fueled an 11-6 fourth quarter with five points to give Eastside the 17-point win.

“Our defense has just been stellar all year. Jamal Hardge comes off the bench and really helps to increase our defensive intensity no matter what position he plays,” Eastside head coach Gregory Freeman said. “This team is really focused and plays with grit and determination.”
