“We know Newton schools screws up the bus for Alcovy sports. We know Newton High cannot account for low graduation rates among the lowest in the state. We know Eddie Johnson is focused on lie detector tests in what seems to be yet another Open Meetings violation and we know most schools cannot manage to report fire drills. What a joke these schools are.”

——

“Thank you, Manny Fils, for exposing the disaster of the NCSS bus situation, which prevented our kids from hard-earned competition. Why has the new superintendent briefed no one on this or a decent explanation on Newton grad rates. She will not last if the silence keeps up.”

——

“Wow. Bullying in Newton schools and knives all over the place. Add this to the impossibly low graduation rates and bad test scores and you have private schools coming on every corner. Please come, and Georgia legislators please give us vouchers to get out of Newton schools.”

——

“If a former deputy superintendent of mediocre school operations makes a statement in the Newton phone poll and no one reads it, does it make a sound?”

——

“So I read all of the apologies from NCSS about the errors in coming up with these grad rates. They also apologize in the paper for not reporting fire drills in keeping with a state code. Do the adults running the NCSS ship let students apologize and get away with it when they make errors? Why is no one in Newton schools held accountable for failure?”

——

“If fire drills are not reported correctly, then the people responsible need to be retrained. After that if they are not reported, then the people responsible need to be fired (zero tolerance for children’s safety.) Maybe Eddie needs to strap his lie detector to some principals to see if the fire drills are happening. Better yet, the Newton County grand jury can investigate and put some NCSS board and staff under oath to get to the truth.”

“It is becoming really hard to believe one word or one number that comes out of Newton County schools. I sure hope voters replace the three BOE members this November and the other two in Districts 2 and 4 in 2016. The place is a disaster. Somebody please announce your candidacy in Districts 1, 3, 5. Deadline is around March this time.”

“First off, this is my opinion. I like Mrs. Fuhrey. She is smart and good, but she is in an impossible job. Her board is racially charged as a majority minority board. There is no leadership on the board anymore. They blurt out and act rude in meetings. Transportation is a mess. The system has lots of pending lawsuits. Crime has gotten out of hand. No bad employees are fired for bad acts, so good workers want to leave. Achievement is toilet level. I do not think she will survive after three years. The computer systems stay out of order and phones. … ”
