COVINGTON — A 2-year-old child allegedly became intoxicated while in the care of a Covington man who was later arrested on charges of disorderly conduct for allegedly fighting with the child’s mother and grandmother.
Covington Police Department Officer Starr Gibbs was called to a home on Carlton Trail around 7:30 p.m. Sunday in reference to a family fight.
The victim said she and her boyfriend, 23-year-old Quintterius Hawk, had been fighting when he pushed and tried to punch her and her mother, tearing off the victim’s shirt during the altercation, according to the incident report.
The argument began when the victim came home from work earlier in the day “and found her 2-year-old intoxicated. Hawk was watching (the child),” the report states.
The victim said they argued and Hawk then left the residence. He returned later and the two began arguing again, at which time Hawk allegedly tore the victim’s shirt. She said she went to her mother’s car to get another shirt and Hawk then took her keys and locked himself inside the house, the report states.
The victim retrieved a spare key from a friend and officers were able to enter the home, where they found Hawk hiding in the bedroom closet.
The victim’s mother had taken the toddler home with her. She told Officer Gibbs that the child didn’t’ feel well when she first brought him home, but later was playing and walking around and seemed fine after she gave him some water, the report states.
