COVINGTON — Those considering a career in law enforcement are invited to attend Georgia Piedmont Technical College’s second career fair next month.
On Monday, March 10, from 9 a.m. to noon, law enforcement agencies from the metro Atlanta and surrounding area will be on hand to speak with prospective recruits who would like to enter the law enforcement field.
Major Harry McCann, who is the director of the Law Enforcement Academy at Georgia Piedmont Technical College, said the event will be in a traditional job fair format, but will be geared specifically for law enforcement
“We see this will be more of a benefit to the agencies coming and to the people interested in a career in law enforcement,” McCann said. “Traditional job fairs include employers from all different markets, but this is specifically for law enforcement.”
He said about 10 agencies have confirmed so far they will be there to recruit prospects, including the Conyers Police Department, Roswell Police Department, Georgia Tech Police Department, Georgia Perimeter College Police Department, Sandy Springs Police Department, Forest Park Police Department and Gainesville Police Department. McCann said representatives from the FBI, the state Department of Public Safety, which includes the Motor Carrier Compliance Division and the Georgia State Patrol, and MARTA will be at the job fair.
The career fair is open to both certified and non-certified prospects, and applicants need to bring their resumes, McCann said.
The Law Enforcement Academy hosted its first career fair in the fall. McCann said he plans to hold one each semester, with subsequent fairs scheduled for June and October.
The Law Enforcement Career Fair will be held at Georgia Piedmont Technical College in Building D Exhibit Hall, located at 8100 Bob Williams Parkway in Covington.
