CONYERS — A 59-year-old Conyers man was injured Friday when he was struck by a car as he was attempting to cross a heavily traveled road.

According to the Georgia State Patrol, the man was darting across Salem Road around 5:50 p.m. when he was struck in the middle turning lane by a 2008 Ford Fusion. The victim was airlifted to Atlanta Medical Center.

Tracey Watson, public information officer for the state Department of Public Safety, said no charges have been filed.

In other news, the GSP continues to investigate a wreck that occurred Monday morning involving a Rockdale County school bus.

Watson said that a 2009 Nissan Rouge was attempting a left turn onto Ga. Highway 138 from Walker Road near Sims Elementary School around 7:20 a.m. when it pulled into the path of a school bus that was traveling west on Ga. 138. The Nissan struck the bus, which had seven occupants, but no injuries were reported, Watson said.

No charges have been reported as the report is not complete, she said.
