This young lady is poised to become a member of a loving family. Dierdre is a 4-month-old miniature pinscher/rat terrier mix who is already vaccinated and wormed. She is very friendly with people and animals, and would fit in well at just about any home. Dierdre can be adopted at the Newton County Animal Shelter, located at 210 Lower River Road in Covington. The shelter usually has between 20 to 30 dogs and an equal number of cats eligible for adoption. The adoption fee for a dog or puppy is $25 and $10 for a cat or kitten. Spaying/neutering is mandatory for all animals. The shelter is open from 11 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday and from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturdays. The phone number is 770-786-9514. Anyone who has lost a pet is urged to go to the center and bring a photo of the missing animal. (Special photo)
