COVINGTON – Students in the Newton County School System will be getting a head start on their Labor Day weekend.
Parent-teacher conferences will be taking place on Friday, so Newton students will be released early for their three-day weekend. Students will be released from school at various times, depending on school-level. Elementary students will be dismissed at 11:15 a.m., while high-schoolers will be released at 12:15 p.m., and middle school students will get out at 1:15 p.m.
“Lunch will be served before students are dismissed and all students who ride school buses home in the afternoons will be transported to their normal bus stops,” said NCSS Public Relations Director Sherri Davis-Viniard.
Davis-Viniard said that NCSS recommends all parents schedule a parent-teacher conference to become informed of their children’s academic progress.
Rockdale County Public Schools will be joining NCSS in taking the day off on Monday to celebrate Labor Day. However, RCPS will hold its parent-teacher conferences during the week of Sept. 8 to 12. Normal school hours will be held during this week.
