Deputies catch fleeing suspect

CONYERS — A man who fled from deputies Friday afternoon in south Rockdale didn’t stay on the run for long.

Rockdale County Sheriff’s Office Chief Deputy Scott Freeman said Friday that a suspect in a family violence case fled when deputies went to his home on Union Church Road shortly after 2 p.m. to serve an arrest warrant.

Freeman said about 10 deputies responded after the man ran into nearby woods. Freeman said deputies set up a perimeter and a containment zone and were able to find the suspect in short order.

“He was actually apprehended by Deputy Joshua Ricks who found him bedded down in some very thick brush and trees,” Freeman said.

Arrested and jailed on charges of family violence and cruelty to children was Bradley Hudgins, 41, of 3029 Union Church Road, Freeman said.
