The Salem Camp Meeting Sunday morning service will be featured on Comcast and AT&T U-verse Cable TV in the 12 counties surrounding the Atlanta area on Friday, Aug. 15, at 10 p.m., Saturday, Aug. 16, at 9:30 a.m. and again on Friday, Aug. 22, at 10 p.m. and Saturday, Aug. 23, at 9:30 a.m.
Comcast will broadcast on Channel 5 and Channel 295 and AT&T U-verse on Channel 6. The service can also be streamed on the computer or other electronic device at aibtv.com.
Many area residents were involved with the service including the First United Methodist and Salem United Methodist Choirs, Julianna Laseter singing “The Prayer” and the National Anthem, Becky and Alice Walker on the grand pianos, Mary Leinweber on violin, Robert Sewell on euphonium, Bill Cobham and Ken Jones on trombones, Howard Kennedy from Dallas and Brian Ashmore on trumpets, and Rick McPhee from Atlanta on bagpipes.
Boy Scout Troup 222 from Covington served as honor guard. The service was recorded by Kenneth Jones of Covington.
The preacher for the service was Hal Brady. Atlanta-Decatur-Oxford District Superintendent, Rev. Sharma Lewis had the prayer and Rev. Joe Peabody of Salem United Methodist Church had the offertory prayer. The song leader was Tom Roberts.
The annual Salem Camp Meeting took place at the historic Salem Campground at 3040 Salem Road in Covington July 11 through 18.
