SCRAPBOOK: Covington Lions Club presents awards, installs officers

The Covington Lions Club recently held a ceremony to present awards and install new officers and members into its club.

Earl Stallworth, the zone chair, earned the Melvin Jones Award at the ceremony.

Missy Braden, incoming club secretary, was presented with the Lion of the Year award by Doreen Stallworth, the incoming District I Cabinet secretary.

Club president, PCC Richard W. Brown, received the Past Club President Award.

Ed Johnson was named 2014-15 club president of the Covington Lions Club.

Twenty-nine members received Perfect Attendance awards.

Olin Newby, council chairman from the Washington Lions Club, officiated the new officer installation. Olin has 61 years as a Lion. New members inducted into the club were: Gerry Gilfedder, Chris Griffith, Lee Meadors, Tommy Davis and T. J. McCaustland.

In addition, a Lions International $75,000 grant award, sponsored by the Covington and Oxford Lions Clubs, was presented to the Miracle League Baseball Field in Newton County.
