Newton Medical spring gala offers a night in Tuscany

COVINGTON — Newton Medical Center wants to take guests to a beautiful night in Tuscany as it hosts its annual Auxiliary spring gala.

The event will be held at 6 p.m. Saturday, April 26 at the Oak Alley Farm, which is the home of doctors Richard Robinson and Aileen O’Neil. There will be cocktails and pre-dinner events followed by dinner, a live auction and dancing.

The evening will offer a variety of fundraising options in order to give back to the local hospital whether it’s through a raffle drawing for $20 or a wine toss game with the winners taking home a bottle of wine.

Funds raised from the event will go towards continued quality services at Newton Medical Center. The hospital has a $350,000 goal to reach within the next two years for new equipment and services, according to event organizer Andrea Lane.

Those interested in sponsoring a table at the gala for eight reserved seats can do so for $5,000. Other tickets being sold include reserved seating for two to six people, ranging from $500 to $3,000. Individual tickets are also still available for $120.

The theme “Una Bella Notte in Toscana,” which means a beautiful night in Tuscany, will be a night to remember with fun pictures at the photo booth in the barn or a chance to purchase an “unknown” prize box, which is sure to surprise guests.

“The gala is just a fun community event that brings together people from all over Newton County, and it’s a really premiere event because there’s no other optional black-tie event like it within the county,” Lane said. “It’s also a good way to support the community hospital, which plays an important role in everyone’s daily life.”

Lane said the largest fundraising effort of the the night is the live auction. Gifts donated for the auction include private parties, family vacations, outdoor events as well as objects of art, photography, pampering packages, golf memberships and more. Buyers will be billed for their purchases or credit cards will be taken at the table.

Oak Alley Farm is located at 1627 Cook Road in Oxford. For more information or to purchase tickets, call the hospital’s volunteer office from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at 770-788-6553 or go to www.nmcvolunteers.com.
