Rockdale County has three special Pets of the Week this week. A litter of German Shepherd-mix puppies was found dumped in a box on someone’s property. Three from the litter — two males and one female — are still waiting to be adopted. The puppies are 8 to 10 weeks old and are up-to-date on their shots. As adults they will grown to be around 50 or 55 pounds. German Shepherds, which are commonly used as police dogs, are considered to be a loving family companion, herder and show competitor. The breed is approachable, direct and fearless, with a strong, muscular body, according to the American Kennel Club. To learn more about the German Shepherd-mix puppies available for adoption, contact Rockdale County Animal Care and Control Shelter at 1506 Rockbridge Road in Conyers. At the Rockdale shelter adoption fees for dogs are $30 and $20 for cats. Spaying or neutering is required for adoption. The shelter is open from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., Monday through Friday. The phone number is 770-278-8403. (Special photo)
