COVINGTON – Four local young artists have had their creations put on display at Community & Southern Bank after winning its inaugural Budding Artist contest.

Asked to create a picture of what they like best about their home in the spring, Peachtree Academy students in kindergarten through fifth grade sent in more than 50 entries for the contest.

Fourth-graders Alana Williamson and Maranda McCullough, along with third-graders Brianna Hembree and Meredith McBay, submitted colorful drawings depicting their interpretations of the community during the vernal season. Selected as the contest’s winners, all four of the student artists’ renditions included floral motifs and outdoor settings observing the return of sunny, warm weather.

In addition to having their artwork displayed in the bank, each of the four winners received a $50 savings account. Peachtree Academy’s art department also benefited from the contest, securing a $250 donation from the bank.

“At CSB, we believe it’s important to invest in the children of our local communities,” said President Mark Abernathy. “Celebrating the work of these talented local students is a meaningful way to show our commitment to the Covington community.”

The students’ artwork can be viewed at the CSB Covington branch located at 10105 Ga. Highway 142.
