Pet of the Week: Freckles and Cylar

If it’s true that freckles are kisses from angels, then this little guy is a favorite of the cherubim. Freckles is a spaniel/chow mix who is just about 1 year old. He is very calm and walks well on a leash. Freckles weighs approximately 35 pounds and has been vaccinated for distemper, parainfluenza and parvo and has been dewormed. To learn more about Freckles, visit the Newton County Animal Shelter, located at 210 Lower River Road in Covington. The shelter usually has between 20 to 30 dogs and an equal number of cats eligible for adoption. The adoption fee for a dog or puppy is $25 and $10 for a cat or kitten. Spaying/neutering is mandatory for all animals. The shelter is open from 11 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday and from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturdays. The phone number is 770-786-9514. Anyone who has lost a pet is urged to go to the center and bring a photo of the missing animal. (Special photo)
