Starship offers reward in rash of armed robberies

CONYERS — Starship Enterprises is offering a $5,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of anyone who has committed armed robbery against any of the stores in the adult novelty chain.

In the most recent incident, the Starship Enterprises store on Ga. Highway 138 was held up at about 1 a.m. Thursday morning. It was the second time in four months that that store was robbed and the 12th time a Starship Enterprises store in the Atlanta area was robbed in recent months. Three of the 12 robberies were committed in the past week.

Authorities believe the same man committed all 12 robberies. The suspect is believed to have robbed stores in College Park, Jonesboro and southwest Atlanta, in addition to the Conyers store.

According to Rockdale County Sheriff’s Office Investigator Michael Camp, in some cases there were customers in the stores at the time of the robberies, and the suspect robbed them, as well. The robber reportedly took only cash from the stores. In all of the robberies he fled on foot.

Camp said there were no customers in the Conyers Starship at the time of the robbery Thursday morning, but in a June robbery the suspect fired a shot at a customer who started to come in the front door of the business. The shot missed the customer but shattered the glass front door.

The suspect is described as a slender black male of average to below average height. During Thursday morning’s robbery he was wearing purple latex gloves, a black ski mask, blue jeans, a navy blue hooded sweatshirt and athletic shoes. He was armed with a revolver. The clothing matches the description of the clothing he was wearing in the June robbery.

Anyone with information about this robbery is asked to contact Lt. Sonya Cordero with the Rockdale County Sheriff’s Office at 770-278-8152. You can also submit an anonymous tip to Crime Stoppers Atlanta at 404-577-TIPS (8477) or at www.crimestoppersatlanta.org.
