COVINGTON — While Newton County students will be getting out of school early on Friday, parents are encouraged to meet with their teachers.
All Newton County public schools will release early for parent-teacher conferences.
Elementary and Theme School students will be dismissed at 11:15 a.m., high school students will be released at 12:15 p.m. and middle school students will be dismissed at 1:15 p.m.
Lunch will be served before dismissal and all students who ride school buses home will be transported to their normal bus stops, according to Sherri Davis-Viniard, director of public relations for Newton County Schools.
Students are completing their sixth week of school, which makes it a good time for parents to touch base with teachers to gauge how their children are progressing.
“We recommend all parents have a conference because it is important to find out the progress their students are making, whether they are doing really well or if there are issues that need to be addressed,” Davis-Viniard said. “It is important to keep lines of communication open between the parents and teachers.”
The next parent-teacher conferences will be scheduled in February, with Feb. 28 slated for early release for that purpose.
