Locals graduate from basic combat training at Fort Jackson, Columbia, S.C

Gordon W. Baldwin

Army Pvt. Gordon W. Baldwin has graduated from basic combat training at Fort Jackson, Columbia, S.C. During the nine weeks of training, the soldier studied the Army mission, history, tradition and core values, physical fitness, and received instruction and practice in basic combat skills, military weapons, chemical warfare and bayonet training, drill and ceremony, marching, rifle marksmanship, armed and unarmed combat, map reading, field tactics, military courtesy, military justice system, basic first aid, foot marches and field training exercises.

Baldwin is the son of Randy and Sheri Baldwin of Conyers. He is a 2010 graduate of Salem High School.

Mieshia D. Banks

Army Pvt. Mieshia D. Banks has graduated from basic combat training at Fort Jackson, Columbia, S.C. During the nine weeks of training, the soldier studied the Army mission, history, tradition and core values, physical fitness, and received instruction and practice in basic combat skills, military weapons, chemical warfare and bayonet training, drill and ceremony, marching, rifle marksmanship, armed and unarmed combat, map reading, field tactics, military courtesy, military justice system, basic first aid, foot marches and field training exercises.

Banks is the daughter of Darlene and Marvin Banks of Fort Oglethorpe. She is the granddaughter of Louise Mitchell of Covington.

Gregory C. Guthrie

Army Pvt. Gregory C. Guthrie has graduated from basic combat training at Fort Jackson, Columbia, S.C. During the nine weeks of training, the soldier studied the Army mission, history, tradition and core values, physical fitness, and received instruction and practice in basic combat skills, military weapons, chemical warfare and bayonet training, drill and ceremony, marching, rifle marksmanship, armed and unarmed combat, map reading, field tactics, military courtesy, military justice system, basic first aid, foot marches and field training exercises.

Guthrie is the brother of Claudia Jackson of Covington.

David Nagie

Nagie is a 2007 graduate of Salem High School.
