LOGANVILLE — Looks like Misty and Lamar Duren were bitten by the “Duck Dynasty” bug.
The couple, who own Corn Dawgs Corn Maze, decided it wasn’t enough to laugh along with the A&E show. They wanted to bring it to their backyard.
This year, the Loganville-based maze has been designed to be the face of Si Robertson with a duck and his iconic saying, “Hey Jack.”
“When I was deciding to the do the maze, I love ‘Duck Dynasty’ and it was spur of the moment (decision),” Misty Duren said. “We’ve gotten more of a response on Facebook from Si than Chipper Jones (last year’s inspiration).”
Duren originally planned for the faces of all four men (Si, Phil, Jase and Willie Robertson) to be plastered in their acres of land, but realized that would be more difficult to plow than imagined.
“So we went with Si because he’s my favorite,” Misty Duren said with a laugh.
The maze takes about an hour and a half to two hours to complete. For those worried about getting lost, fret not. There are two ways to maneuver through the corn stalks: the checkpoint map and Farm Scene Investigation, which is like the game Clue.
Farmer Joe has gone missing and it’s up to the attendees to figure out who did it, where and with what weapon. The clues are scattered throughout the curls and roundabouts.
If you actually get lost, there are people to help you through or you can wave a flag for help.
Besides the maze, there will be “Duck Dynasty”-inspired activities, plus the usual jumping pillows, bungies and a corn maze for toddlers.
On Sept. 20-21, the Durens are kick starting the season with the Corn Dawg’s second annual Professional Rodeo.
The Corn Dawgs Corn Maze opens Sept. 22 and runs through Nov. 3. The maze is located at 955 Leone Ave. in Loganville, off Highway 81.
