Willette finishes third in Carrollton

Dax Willette spent another weekend on the cross country course finishing high atop the leader board. The Rockdale freshman placed third in the Class AAAAAA boy’s race at the Carrollton Last Chance Invitational, running in 17:30.79, less than three seconds from runner-up Jake Howlin of South Forsyth (17:27.93).

Willette’s teammate Logan Hull also had a top-50 time, running in 18:39.21 to finish 42nd, while Jonathan Butler was just outside the top-50 (18:50.17 to finish 51st).

In the Class AAAAA boy’s race, Heritage finished 17th, thanks to Darryl Bowie, who finished 40th with a time of 18:29.46, and T.J. Wilson, who ran in 18:47.48 to place 57th.

Rockdale will be joined by Newton and Alcovy when the Region 2-AAAAAA championships begin November 2 at Druid Hills Middle School in Decatur. That same day, Heritage will host the Region 8-AAAAA championships, which includes county rival Salem.
