Man arrested after fender-bender at South Salem car-rider line

COVINGTON — A small fender-bender in a school pick-up line this week resulted in the arrest of a Covington man.

According to Newton County Sheriff’s Office Investigator Michael Cunningham, Kristoffer Wallace was in a tan Chevrolet pickup truck to pick up a child after students were dismissed from South Salem Elementary School Wednesday afternoon. Wallace then ran into the rear of the vehicle stopped in front of him.

“(The driver of the second car) exited her vehicle and as she was talking to Wallace, he drove over the curb and left the scene,” Cunningham said.

The victim then called the NCSO. About 30 minutes after the deputy arrived, the victim noticed Wallace had returned to the school this time in a black Chevrolet truck.

The deputy approached Wallace and discovered he had a suspended license.

Wallace, who is 24 and resides at 415 Fox Meadow Drive, was arrested and charged with driving with a suspended license and failure to stop at the scene of an accident.
