GPC plans Awesome Autumn Open House

COVINGTON — Georgia Perimeter College will host an Awesome Autumn Open House at its Newton Campus where prospective students can get information on enrollment and other topics.

The open house is set for Saturday, Oct. 19, 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Parents and students are invited to tour the campus, located at 239 Cedar Lane, Covington, enjoy refreshments and games, and meet community vendors.

Jeff Meadors, collegewide coordinator for GPC’s Dual Enrollment Program, will be on hand to share informational packets and speak with parents, students and school personnel about dual enrollment, ACCEL and Move On When Ready.

Meadors said topics covered will include admission to the program; SAT and ACT test prep; required immunizations; verification of lawful presence; academic advisement; academic monitoring; available tutoring for admitted students; copies of all Georgia legislation that impacts dual enrollment; required high school curriculum; End of Course Tests; math sequencing; duplicate credit; conversion from dual enrollment to GCP freshman status; transcript requests; copies of ACCEL and MOWR approved course lists for funding; optional math placement testing; and more.

New students who attend the open house will be given a fee waiver worth $20. Fee waivers are limited to one per household and must be used by Dec. 31.
