Toy and clothing donations can benefit foster children

CONYERS — Georgia United Credit Union is seeking donations for its annual Christmas Wish Tree program, which benefits deserving foster children through the Department of Family and Children’s Services. Schools, civic groups and individuals who are interested can donate new toys and articles of clothing to a local Georgia United branch by Dec. 13.

At each Georgia United location, there is a Christmas tree in the lobby, decorated with specific foster children’s wishes as ornaments. Donors can select a child’s wish/decoration from the tree and bring the new, unwrapped gift to the branch by the deadline. For those who want to donate but do not have the time to shop, monetary contributions can be made to the Wish Tree fund through a Georgia United teller.

The Conyers branch of Georgia United is located at 1381 Milstead Ave.

The Wish Tree program has been operated by Georgia United for 24 years, with it being one of the most successful and longest running community service projects that the credit union has to offer.

“Georgia United has always been involved in the communities we serve across the state,” said Georgia United President and CEO Doug Foote. “As the economy continues to experience challenges, we wanted to reach out to our county neighbors who are interested in donating toys to deserving children right here at home.”

More information about the Wish Tree program is available at all Georgia United locations or by calling their marketing department at 770-476-6409.
