Historic St. Paul AME Church leaves its Stone Mountain St. location

St. Paul AME Church Pastor Rev. Thomas R. Stegall and Assistant Pastor Rev. Marie Davis stand in front of the historic church on Stone Mountain Street in Covington. The congregation of St. Paul AME has met at that site for 132 years but is now moving to an 11-acre parcel of land at 13108 Brown Bridge Road in Newton County. Stegall said the move is “bittersweet.” For the full story, see the Citizen’s religion section on Friday. (Staff Photo: Karen Rohr)
