COVINGTON — Newton County investigators are looking into allegations that a 55-year-old man had molested a young teenager for about two years.
Stephen Kelly Parker of 55 Dunning Keep in Covington was arrested on Nov. 6 and has been charged with aggravated child molestation and aggravated sodomy.
Newton County Sheriff’s Office Deputy Felicia Jefferson said the victim, who is now 15 years old, reported to an adult in September that Parker had sexually assaulted her numerous times over the course of two years.
“The adult did, in turn, notify law enforcement,” Jefferson said. “Law enforcement set up a forensic interview and during that interview, the disclosure was made and investigators had enough probable cause to make an arrest.”
In other news, a Covington woman reported to the Newton County Sheriff’s Office that her daughter’s boyfriend had threatened her over Facebook. Jefferson said the man allegedly posted that he would seek revenge against the woman.
Jefferson said the complainant and the 28-year-old man have had an adversarial relationship, so she wanted to make a report of the perceived threats.
Another Covington woman reported to the Sheriff’s Office that a friend from church left a threatening voice mail message after they had an argument over the telephone.
According to the incident report, the complainant said she called the woman Monday to discuss organizing a church function.
“The female told her she could not make it. The complainant made the comment that she would have to do this by herself again, and hung up the phone,” the report states.
Two days later, the complainant checked her voice mail and heard a message from the female from church.
“The female left a message saying she would come over there and handle her,” the report states.
The complainant told the deputy that she felt threatened and wanted an incident report filed.
