Jody Hice to speak to conservative group in Newton

COVINGTON — Dr. Jody Hice, Republican candidate for Congress, will speak to a local conservative grassroots group today at 7 p.m. at Mt. Pleasant United Methodist Church.

The Walton County resident and Baptist minister will address members of the Newton Conservative Liberty Alliance on the current political climate and his ideas and solutions for Washington, D.C., in his bid for the 10th Congressional District seat.

Also speaking tonight will be Stan Edwards, a Republican candidate for the District 1 seat on the Newton County Board of Education. Edwards will discuss his campaign and his vision for education in Newton County.

Each speaker will take questions from the audience.

Hice is the founder of The Culture and Values Network and the host of The Jody Hice Show, a conservative talk radio program.

Hice is a native of Atlanta and a graduate of Asbury College. He earned his master’s degree from Southwestern Seminary and his doctorate from Luther Rice University. He has served churches in Barrow, Gwinnett and Walton counties and as an adjunct faculty member at Luther Rice.

Hice is a vocal supporter of the freedom of religious expression and of the Second Amendment.

The Newton Conservative Liberty Alliance is a grassroots group supporting the principles of liberty, lower taxes and constitutional governance.

Mt. Pleasant United Methodist Church is located at 55 County Road 229, at the intersection with U.S. Highway 278 in eastern Newton County.
