Alcovy softball player Chelsea Murphy will continue her softball career locally after signing her letter of intent with Georgia Perimeter College.
Murphy, a four-year varsity starter, had a .471 batting average and hit a .526 with runners in scoring position finishing her senior year with 10 doubles. While in the circle, Murphy had a 17-3-1 record with a .93 ERA.
"Chelsea was a great player for our team all four years. She has been a leader on and off the field," Alcovy head coach Monica Marks said. "This season, she pitched great and was a clutch hitter. It seemed like every time someone was in scoring position she was able get them in. She always wanted to do whatever was necessary to help our team win."
Amongst her accomplishments, Murphy also made the All-State Team for the Georgia Dugout Club for 2012 and was MVP for her sophomore and junior seasons.
