School Crime Report for March 19, 2013

The Newton County Sheriff's Office provides School Resource Officers to each high school and middle school in Newton County. The following is a list of reports filed by these officers that have been received this week by the Newton Citizen:

ALCOVY HIGH SCHOOL

-- On March 22 around noon a student was found to be in possession of a small quantity of suspected marijuana, digital scales and a black airsoft BB pistol. The items were discovered in the student's vehicle by a school administrator and turned over to the resource officer. The student, 18-year-old Nicholas Dijion Cammon of 120 Heaton Place Trail, was suspended from school and charged with possession of a weapon on school property and possession of marijuana with intent to distribute.

NEWTON HIGH SCHOOL

-- The school resource officer and the assistant principal questioned a student on March 14 around 1:30 p.m. about being in possession of drugs. The student confirmed that he was in possession of drugs and retrieved a container of suspected marijuana from the crotch area of his pants. He was arrested and referred to Juvenile Court.

-- The school resource officer responded to a report of a fight on March 22 around 8:15 a.m. The two students were separated. The victim was checked for injuries and the alleged aggressor, William Dontrel Winston, 18, of 55 Bridges Way, was placed under arrest and charged with simple battery.

Drugs in our schools seem to be a problem?

Maybe thats the problem. No one caught with drugs at eastside? Is this the reason they want to replace eastside?
