COVINGTON -- The Chase Cain Memorial Foundation Bike Ride has had a rain delay. Previously planned for this past Saturday, the new date for the event is April 27.
The police-escorted ride will leave Sharp Gymnasium, across from the Covington YMCA on Newton Drive, at 10 a.m. and will cover a 55-mile course. Registration will begin at 9 a.m.
The fees are $20 per bike and additional riders are asked to make a donation. Breakfast will be provided, and a raffle will follow the ride.
All proceeds go the the Memorial Foundation's scholarship fund. Scholarships are given annually to seniors from the three high schools in Newton County, as well as to students in private and home schools.
Chase Cain's life was cut short when he died in an automobile crash only a few months after he graduated from Eastside High School in 2004. His family and friends have established the foundation in his honor.
