CONYERS -- Heritage fell to 1-2 in region play, losing to hot hitting Winder Barrow 11-4 on Wednesday.
The Bulldoggs struck first with four runs in the first and three more in the second to put Heritage in an early hole.
The Patriots scored in the third when Justin Jackson knocked in Jalen Martin, who led off the inning with a base hit. Heritage eventually sent seven batters to the plate in the fifth but could only manage one run while leaving the bases loaded.
Ryan Sutton plated two runners in the sixth with a base hit. Domenic Bazzani and Jack Reach pitched for the Patriots.
Heritage looks to even the score as well as its region record with a rematch in Winder today.
Patriots battle to 1-1 tie against No. 7 Brookwood
CONYERS -- The Heritage boys soccer team went back and forth to a 1-1 tie against the eurosportscoreboard.com Class AAAAAA No. 7 ranked Broncos on Tuesday.
Even though Brookwood (6-2-1, 1-1 in Area 8-AAAAAA play) was technical and moved the ball around on offense, the Broncos were unable to get the ball past Heritage keeper Conner Domaleski, who had 11 saves in the first half.
While the Patriots' (7-1-2, 2-1 in Area 8-AAAAA) defense withstood a hard-charging offense, their offense also had their chances to score but came up short on their five opportunities.
The Patriots found a weak spot in the Broncos defense and attacked it before Austin Kulp got past the keeper to give Heritage the lead with 23 minutes left in the match.
The Broncos eventually tied the game after Heritage failed to clear a corner kick, giving Brookwood three chances before finding the back of the net.
