The Mary Brown Tinkham Chapter, Colonial Dames 17th Century, recently met at the Honey Creek Golf and Country Club. Educator, Citizen newspaper columnist and humorist Darrell Huckaby was an honored guest. Huckaby was chosen as the Mary Brown Tinkham Chapter's Outstanding American History Teacher for 2012. The chapter chose Huckaby based on his 39 years of teaching in the classroom, which included numerous activities for students which helped them achieve their goals. He is also a candidate to receive the State Society Colonial Dames 17th Century award for Georgia. Shown are, from left, Sara Frances Hall, chapter historian; Darrell Huckaby; and Dianne A. Passmore, chapter president/state historian.
