Newton Citizen

The Newton County Sheriff's Office provides School Resource Officers to each high school and middle school in Newton County. The following is a list of reports filed by these officers that have been received this week by the Newton Citizen:

ALCOVY HIGH SCHOOL

-- A student reported to the school resource officer on March 7 around 8:15 a.m. that someone had stolen his Beats by Dr. Dre headphones.

NEWTON HIGH SCHOOL

-- An administrator reported to the school resource officer on March 4 that a student had turned in a cell phone that had been stolen from another student. The phone was returned to its rightful owner.

-- A student reported to the school resource officer on March 4 that an "item" was stolen from him and another student.

-- On March 7 the school resource officer was informed by a teacher that some students were pouring some oily liquid on the floor. The suspects were viewed on video and will be charged with misdemeanor reckless conduct.

VETERANS MIDDLE SCHOOL

-- A student was found to be in possession of marijuana at school on March 6. The school resource officer detained him for Juvenile Court and charged him with possession of marijuana less than an ounce.

LIVE OAK ELEMENTARY SCHOOL

-- An employee at the school reported to a resource officer that someone had taken her wallet while she was at work on March 5.

ROCKY PLAINS ELEMENTARY SCHOOL

-- An employee at the school reported to a resource officer that someone had removed her Apple iPad from her office sometime between the dates of Feb. 28 and March 3.
