Eastside High School sent six students to the final All-State Chorus in Savannah. The students went through a rigorous two-step audition process and competed against 8,000 students across Georgia to earn the honor of attending; 1,750 students were selected. The EHS students were assigned to four different choirs and performed concerts for the public at the Savannah Civic Center. The event is sponsored by the Georgia Music Educators Association. Pictured, from left, are Joel Singleton, EHS Choral Director; senior Robbie Ellwanger in the Senior Mens Choir attending for the second time; junior Sam Potts in the Senior Mixed Choir for the fifth time attending; senior Tim Tukes in the Senior Mens Choir for the second time attending; senior Julianna Laseter in the Senior Womens Choir for the fifth time attending; senior Mary Lathem in the Senior Mixed Choir for the sixth time attending; and sophomore Matthew Dean in the Intermediate Mixed Choir for the third time attending. While in Savannah, the group also held its Annual EHS Chorus Bowling Tournament. Singleton regained his winning title this year after losing last year to Potts. Next year this chorus event moves to the Classic Center in Athens.
