Teens arrested in entering auto incident

CONYERS -- Two 14-year-old males were taken into custody Thursday after officers with the Conyers Police Department responded to an in-progress entering auto incident at Meadow Crossing Apartments.

Witnesses in the area told police that one of the suspects opened the back hatch of a vehicle, got out a pair of tennis shoes and put them in his backpack while the other suspect acted as a lookout.

One witness confronted the juveniles, according to police, and stood by with them until police arrived.

Both suspects were taken into custody and charged with burglary second degree. Their names were not released due to their status as juveniles.

Between Saturday night, Feb. 23, and Sunday morning, Feb. 24, CPD officers responded to two burglaries and an attempted burglar on Big Horn Court.

Four males, ages 13, 15, 16 and 19, were arrested. Three were charged with burglary; the 13-year-old was charged with being a party to the crime of burglary. The 19-year-old was identified by police as Larry Stewart, 1736 Ridge Ct., Conyers.

According to police, multiple pieces of property were recovered during the investigation, mostly electronics.

Police were alerted to the burglaries by a witness who saw the suspects leaving one of the burglary locations. The investigation is ongoing and more arrests are expected, according to the CPD.
