Driver charged in fatal accident

COVINGTON -- A 46-year-old Covington woman turned herself in at the Newton County Detention Center on charges of vehicular homicide and failure to stop at a stop sign.

Janet Ianthe Slultz of 110 Alcovy Reserve Way is charged in connection with a Jan. 20 accident that claimed the life of Kaz Kathy Lynn Hill, 52, also of Covington.

According to the Georgia State Patrol, the two drivers crashed at the four-way stop at Bypass Road and Flat Shoals Road. Hill, who was driving a 2000 Chevrolet Ventura, was struck in the left side by a Nissan Maxima driven by Slultz.

Hill was taken to Newton Medical Center where she later died of her injuries, according to the GSP.

The accident was investigated by the GSP Specialized Collision Reconstruction Team.
