Bike tour map available to public

CONYERS -- The Arabia Mountain Heritage Area has produced a self-guided bike tour map that is now available to the public.

Rockdale County Parks & Recreation, along with the AMHAA, have been working together on bike trails for the community. The AMHAA's interactive map outlines the PATH Foundation trail and features links and descriptions for areas of interest in the Arabia Mountain National Heritage Area.

The PATH Foundation trail, beginning in Lithonia and expanding beyond Panola Mountain State Park, links natural and historic areas throughout the Heritage Area. Ten more miles of the trail are scheduled to open, including a connection to the Monastery of the Holy Spirit in Rockdale.

For more information or to view the map, visit the county's Parks & Recreation page at www.rockdalecounty.org or www.arabiaalliance.org.

The Arabia Mountain Heritage Area Alliance is a group of volunteers and staff who work to promote and preserve the natural, scenic, cultural and historic resources within the Heritage Area. The nonprofit was named in the 2006 congressional legislation to coordinate and oversee the activities of the Heritage Area. Its 19-member board is made up of residents or representatives of the three counties of the Heritage Area as well as representatives of tourism sites, neighborhood organizations and conservation groups.

The Alliance is dedicated to protecting, connecting and sharing the unique history, rich culture and engaging landscapes of this National Heritage Area for the benefit and enjoyment of all generations
